Last weekend, JT and I were pondering on where to spend our Saturday afternoon. It was our first freetime together since I got back from my business trip in Cebu. Knowing that both of us are a little stressed out with all the responsibilities we hurdled that week, we decided we needed to get a good massage, and what better way than to go to Ahavia Lounge and Spa in Katipunan.
I am no spa expert, but two years ago I had the privilege to experience Ahavia’s service in their San Juan Branch, so I thought maybe I can get the same quality experience from their newest outlet in Katipunan.
It’s so new, it’s just less than 2 months old!
We were greeted by this Asian-Modern-Inspired Architecture the moment we got in. I particularly like the intricate design they have on the walls of their reception table. They remind me of chandeliers in Disney movies.
I wasn’t planning on blogging about this, but knowing the opportunistic kid that I am, I couldn’t resist. So I took the liberty to ask the Receptionist if I can use their official photos in their Facebook account. Since I believe their photos are more enticing. Haha I am not prepared, okay!
The list of services were handed to us, and it took me a while to decide what I’m gonna get. So I guess to calm the nerves and to assist for a good blood circulation, and probably speed up on our massage choices, we had tea first. It was warm, and really pacifying.
When we finally made a choice, we were given the option to take a shower first. Actually you may or may not take it, but I highly suggest that you do, because cleansing your body pre-massage feels a whole lot better than not doing so. Plus, it can be embarrassing to the masseause if he/she has to smell your not-so-fragrant self! :))
Time for the massage! I was directed to one of the massage beds. It was very peaceful there, and only a hazy light gives life to the interior.
I am to receive my Oriental Ritual Massage, actually both JT and I. And it’s only 349PhP for 60 minutes!
According to Ahavia’s Massage Therapy Treatments, this is done by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to heart. Techniques include circular pressure applied by the hands and palms, firm kneading, percussion-like tapping, bending, and stretching.
These methods can help your body’s lymph system flush metabolic waste such as lactic acid and uric from your muscles. It increases the level of oxygen in the blood. Some other benefits include improvement of flexibility, reduces water retention, and relieves joint pain, sprains or stiffness.
JT and I didn’t avail the VIP room though. Although I believe getting a massage together will be a perfect idea for a date, friends, sisters, mother-daughter, father-son bonding or on second thought, maybe even an alone time!
To avail their VIP room, there will be an additional 299PhP for the 1st hour, and 199PhP every succeeding hour after that.
But we chose to go the usual. Haha Separate cubicles. Maybe next time! XP
I think getting a massage for your Mom would be a delightful treat for the Mothers’ Day tomorrow! She’ll love you more for it, I’m sure!
Massage chairs are also available for the taking. Although I prefer the more traditional way.
They also have this sparkling pool at the back, and I can’t wait to try it on my next visit. This will be a wonderful add-on post-therapy. I wonder how it would feel dipping in the pool after being all relaxed and pampered.
The experience is rejuvenating. I felt like years of contracted muscles have been evenly stretched out, and the blood finally paved its way to a new route. It feels like EDSA being relieved of traffic. You can imagine the relief, I’m sure. Hehe :))
I have been complaining about heaps of weight in my back muscles for weeks now, I guess it’s a result of not being able to exercise and having so much things going on at work. Goodie, Ahavia really got my back! (Haha :)) I didn’t mean to make it sound so pun-ny!)
