From Being Half-Orphan to Marrying my Better-Half, and All the Life-Changing Crazy Things of 2017

It’s the last day of the year, and I normally do not blog to review what happened in the last 364 days, but for 2017, I’m making an exception.

There has been no year that has saddened, challenged, frustrated, and uplifted me so much. So to give reference, and make me remember in the future, I’d like to share with you my year, in review.

January – Mom passed away.

20161001_232217_HDR

Not exactly the thing I was expecting for the first week of the year. And for the rest of my life, starting at my 27th year on earth.

I never felt so low in my life, and be subjected in a state of so much disbelief. This is something you can never recover from, but you can get used to.

20161002_043119_HDR

Sadness. Longing. Regret. Few of the many despairing words you feel when someone you love dies. But then again it leaves you with so much awe how that person has affected you so much, that the feelings left can actually change and improve your perspectives on how you would want to live your remaining days until you see her again.

FB_IMG_1487117005686

FB_IMG_1487116880962

As for me, I want to make her proud everyday.

February – I got engaged.

Again, disbelief.

As I accepted that ring 31,000 feet above the ground I knew my life is about to change even more.

engage1

At that moment, I knew this year is going to kick my butt every chance it gets. It maybe for the better or worse, but I just have to be ready at every whim when the kick comes.

But this one, I love so much.

wp-1488519877894.jpg

I was single for 4 years from a colorful 6-year relationship, and at 26 I was worried that I might be still single until I’m 30. I’m not getting any younger, and I was a bit panicky for myself already.

But hey, love finds you when you least expect it.

wp-1488521222643.jpg

I just can’t believe I’m getting married to a younger man I met in a club. 😮 And I’ve never been more sure in my life.

March – I resigned.

I ended my 5-year tenure to one of the most established and elite real estate companies in the country.

FB_IMG_1511856333851.jpgFB_IMG_1504916261064.jpgFB_IMG_1505216976406.jpg

I never thought I could be that brave. But then again, choices have to be made, and things are going to turn in one way or another.

FB_IMG_1512127026402.jpg

My resignation just happen to be marked on this month.

It was a big leap, the biggest actually for my career. It was heart-breaking and liberating at the same time.

And the most forward-thinking if I may say. I wasn’t planning on shifting to another organization, so it was truly a game-changer.

I was now on my own, planning my own game.

April – I got my first paid freelance talk and a feature in Rappler. And, I changed my hair color!

Changing my haircolor to a very bold hue was one of the bravest and best decisions I made in my life!

Changing it didn’t just paved the way for new opportunities, it also armed me with a whole new gear of confidence for much riskier and happier adventures!

A month ago, I never thought someone would want to hire me to talk in their company. I mean, I’ve never talked anywhere without representing where I’m working for.

FB_IMG_1514716454026.jpg

But that day, I felt like a superwoman! I felt like I could do anything, as long as I pour my heart into it.

I created a new module and syllabus, and facilitating it felt like I was already teaching it for a long time.

FB_IMG_1514716456998.jpg

I really have to thank my experience and the opportunities given to me before, without which I wouldn’t have the skill to create something of my own.

I will always be grateful. 🙂

Screenshot_20171110_130646-01.jpeg

And I also made friends with a young photographer and writer who happens to be having her on-the-job-training in Rappler. I didn’t knew participating in her OJT interview feature assignment would actually end up being released in this bigtime news site!

🙂

May – I got a publicist and had my first meeting with a celebrity for Versaheel.

IMG_20170427_205104

This was waaaaay over the top. I was like, it’s barely half a year! And now this? I met this International Blogger and Publicist named MJ Racadio, and he opened doors I never knew were even there before!

IMG_20170507_235922

I met him in a Francis Libiran Fashion Show, and he took interest in my shoe work, and before I know it, I was meeting and dressing up Jaclyn Jose.

June – I was named a blogger ambassador for a brand.

IMG_20170628_150158-01

My blog is still new. I wasn’t that kind who was very religious when it comes to updating her blog, but I am striving very hard, that was why I was so shocked when I got an email about a brand wanting to partner with Encyclopevia.

IMG_20170628_151550-01

Gown for Rent couldn’t be timelier as I was set to be married soon. So it provided a really good angle for me to write on. And I enjoyed shooting amazing gowns from their studio!

(Hehe :* :* Plug plug plug! :p )

July – Together with my then-fiance, we booked our major wedding suppliers and I was invited to talk in a business expo in SM Megamall.

At this moment, I was extra concerned already because I haven’t quite done a good deal for our wedding planning. I was totally freaking out about the date I wanted, if it’s still available in our non-negotiable church.

IMG_20170702_171602.jpg

To my good grief, it was STILL! Not the best time slot, but it will do! 🙂

I felt so triumphant, because after two days, we were also able to book the reception and caterer which is just 5minutes away from the church! Yay! 😀

#SmartBride

IMG_20170729_173953.jpgIMG_20170729_174127.jpg

I also had the stage all to myself when I discussed Instagram Marketing with a bunch of business owners, marketers and students in an expo in SM Megamall. Mall talks are a big deal for me!

IMG_20170729_153718.jpg

This was the same organization that gave me an opportunity to talk in Glorietta last year. Gladly, I was more calm on this one compared to the travel expo in 2016.

IMG_20170729_161826.jpg

August – I travelled to Cambodia and Malaysia and got my first feature in a TV show.

This year is totally giving me a lot of firsts.

IMG_20170807_132617-01.jpeg

I got to visit Siem Reap, Cambodia and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia! I love travelling! It has made me understand more people and their unique cultures!

I believe aside from being a good story-teller, you also become a better and more tolerant person when you travel.

IMG_20170810_200150.jpg

Plus, I got to see my face on TV for the first time! Not as an audience of a show, but actually as myself!

I got featured in News5 at TV5 for my story as a shoe designer, and a live interview was also held in Pambansang Almusal at Net25 featuring my work and some designs.

FB_IMG_1514718468348.jpg

IMG_20170914_145451.jpg

I never thought I’ll have these opportunities this early when I am just a girl who is madly fixated with shoes.

September – I enrolled in a shoe construction class.

Taking my shoe designer dreams and skills to the next level! My then-fiance and I thought it would be a great move to learn more about the craft.

I was so excited because I have always dreamed of studying in SoFA (School of Fashion and Arts).

IMG_20170916_170423.jpg

I learned to design with more precision, do pattern-making and the actual shoe-making! I am stocking so much leathers at home already! 😮

IMG_20170930_174847.jpg

I even earned my first battle scar! 😀 I accidentally cut myself while I was tracing my pattern in the shoe last. I am so thrilled on getting my own shoe machines soon!

October –My first shoe collaboration project happened.

IMG_1326IMG_1247

Before I was just taking photos from the shoe factories, Marikina Public Market, and the basement of Farmers’ Plaza, but now I actually experienced shooting a collection of my own designs! What’s better is that it is for a collaboration between a New York-based artist, Peter Marco of MARCO NOT POLO.

The Princess and the Peacock 2My heart swells with joy as I also made good collaborations with Tobi Cabrera of Funkadelic Photos and Joshua Miguel Paungan of A Day in the Life.

November – I met new people for the first time who recognized me and read my blog.

2017-11-17 05.49.51 1.jpg

This was such a revelation for me. Some people ARE actually reading my blog! OMG!

I went to some events and met new friends, and to my surprise they recognize Encyclopevia! As it turned out, they’ve visited our humble page before already! I was so kilig and happy! I cannot wait to meet all of you soon and share stories together! 🙂

December – I got married.

I may have started this year pretty sad, but the happiness it brought me as 2017 ends was unimaginable.

There were a lot of hiccups that happened on why we were able to celebrate our civil wedding in the last month of the year.

There were age, time and ID issues to name a few, but I guess everything came in to fruition when we finally set the date on December 20, 2017 – exactly two years after we first met!

FB_IMG_1514714935510.jpg

With only 28 days for planning, I am pleased to write that we were able to carry out our goals, and even got bonuses along the way.

FB_IMG_1514453335642.jpg

It’s just fleeting to celebrate a very special day with all the people you love, who reciprocate the same ardour (fortunately for us) as well.

I cannot explain how happy I am that my prayers were answered and the long wait for God’s perfect time was all worth it.

FB_IMG_1513781005237.jpg

So 2018, get ready! I’m tougher and (more) ready for your new kicks! 😀

Wishing you more love and happiness for the year to come! :*

How to Achieve Your Korean Drama-Inspired Prenup Photoshoot

One of the best things about pulling off a Kdrama-inspired photoshoot is that it is sooo affordable!

If you’re a budgetarian bride like me, you would agree that shooting indoors saves you much more money than its other contemporaries.

John+Via-429_preview.jpeg

With only 28 days for my civil wedding preparation, I knew I had to cut costs, let go the unnecessaries and focus more on the essentials.

While a prenup photoshoot may be unnecessary, I still tried and convinced my then-fiance into having one. I just think it would be a good keepsake for us as we embark on this new chapter of our lives.

John+Via-482_41_preview.jpeg

He just said I have to source suppliers that are within our budget. So, being the matyaga and kuripot that I am, I was in no way letting my talent go to waste in finding the perfect wedding suppliers.

John+Via-440_preview.jpeg

It was also a good bait to tell John that I was planning to have a K-drama-inspired prenup! He is such a HUGE fan! Oh my, huge may even be an understatement! But nevertheless, this seemingly-too-much-information can be the main reason why my prenup dreams are finally coming true!

John+Via-468_preview.jpeg

So here are my tips and tricks on how you can achieve yours too!

  1. Indoor Venue

The good thing about this K-drama concept is that you don’t need an extravagant place to shoot! All you need is good lighting and soft color tones as your background.

You can even just rent an Airbnb! 🙂

John+Via-5_preview.jpeg

Ours was Maison Soleil in One Castilla Place. Peso Power:  P3,769.34

We were eyeing some good places as well, but our deciding factors were the price and the number of hours. As we would like to shoot more and be carefree with our poses, we didn’t want to be pained and rushed to the shoot with the limited time.

John+Via-1_preview.jpeg

Plus, the condo unit was such a convenience, because we had an instant dressing room already! 🙂

  1. Natural Korean Makeup

Since I was on a budget, I didn’t hire a professional makeup artist anymore. I found a nearby salon who was willing to do my hair makeup for only P1,000 .

I wasn’t expecting much since I do not need a super bonggang ayos. I instructed them to just make me look more like that of a Korean.

John+Via-482_3_preview.jpeg

I believe this is very crucial, especially if your Photo and Video team will also shoot for a Save-the-date video. I have seen Korean-inspired shoots that failed a notch lower because their makeup looked very Western.

John+Via-482_22_preview.jpeg

So just keep it clean, vibrant and youthful! Your beau may just even need a CC cream! 😊

  1. Matching Clothes

Pinterest is my bestfriend ever since I have been introduced to wedding planning. It’s so addicting, nakakapuyat! I have seen that Korean couples love matchy-matchy outfits, and sooooo… 😝

John+Via-482_27_preview.jpeg

We bought our grey sweaters from Uniqlo, and the colorful unicorn ones from H&M.

Since a pair of white rubber shoes is such a staple, and I happen to not own one  – I was just lucky enough to score a pair in Surplus Shop in SM North EDSA.

John+Via-602_8_preview.jpeg

John+Via-433_preview.jpeg

Peso Power:  P499 (I know, such a steal!)

  1. Spontaneous and Quirky Poses

I believe the key to happy and vibrant photos are the good subject themselves. The photographers can only do so much, but it is the couple’s duty to look and appear enticing in the first place.

John+Via-482_50_preview.jpeg

Aside from well-researched couple poses, I believe these will come out naturally given that each person loves the other so much, and nobody would be feeling awkward towards the other anytime in the shoot unless they had a fight prior.. which I hope would never happen.

John+Via-482_21_preview.jpeg

John+Via-482_18_preview.jpeg

You can usually just do your actual lambingan, tickling, smelling each other in weird places like the armpits or something. You can be crazy and fun! The rule here is to not be boring, and just be all pa-cute!

John+Via-482_13_preview.jpeg

Haha It really helps if you practice. Play some Korean or happy music to get you in the mood! 😀

John+Via-454_preview.jpeg

  1. A Good and Reliable Photo and Video Team

I was nearly hopeless about pushing an engagement shoot because I do not really know anyone who can pull off what I want with the budget I have.

But my prayers were answered, and I found Grid Studio! Contact No: 0906 617 2099

Peso Power: P12,500 (Originally P16,000)

Inclusions: Prenup Shoot, Save-the-Date video, Photo Coverage and Wedding Highlights

John+Via-459_preview.jpeg

I was sooooo shocked when they gave me their rates, and I had an additional 30% discount because my civil wedding will fall on a weekday!

They didn’t even charge me an out-of-town-fee, considering our shoot and wedding venue is in Quezon City, considering they are from Laguna. 🙂

John+Via-97_preview.jpeg

John+Via-65_preview.jpeg

Talk about destiny and stars aligning to make my prenup dreams come true!

John+Via-45_preview.jpeg

I was just thinking of having decent photos in our wedding, nothing too stellar, because I know the price I’m paying for. But I was totally stunned with how good their editing was, and how they were able to capture the candid and lively tomfoolery John and I were doing during the shoot.

I also specifically instructed to use a dreamy and whimsical filter to suit the mood. 😉 And oh boy, how they did not disappoint!

John+Via-52_preview.jpeg

I can say we got more than what we paid for.

The team just got this talent and pure eye for detail. And I’m so grateful I stumbled upon Grid Studio’s page.

John+Via-444_preview.jpeg

So here are my five tips and tricks into achieving that Korean Drama- Inspired Photoshoot! I hope you learned a thing or two to get ready and say Saranghae to your Oppa in your photos!

Kamsahamnida! 🙂

Ha? 28 ka na? : Anti-aging with Novuskin Lift

When I was 21, I never wanted to age. How I wish I could stop time, and fulfill and be the first “Forever 21”!

Haha 🙂 That age has just so many possibilities going on with it. I was a fresh graduate. I just got my first job. Everything was just a first; I could hardly choose which one to begin!

19 years old

(Left – 20 years old    |   Right – 21 years old)

22 years old

24 years old

Fast forward to 7 years, I was able to climb up a career ladder, started a blog, became a brand ambassador of some brands, hosted my own talks, spoke to workshops and seminars, got featured in 2 TV shows, dyed my hair orange, got engaged, and getting married real soon!

OMG! Time sure flies so fast!

28 years old

As I look back, I know there were a lot of things I could have corrected, and wished I had done more than what I had, but then again what else can I do right?

All we need to do is to focus on the now, and what we can still control.

I am 28, and I think my efforts pay off whenever I get shocked reactions about my age. Golly, my fiancé even thought I was 18 when he first met me! I was 26 at the time.

But seriously, I think everyone feels the same way whenever other people think that they are younger than their original age.

There could be a lot of factors that can contribute to aging: diet, sleep patterns, exercise, stress, bodily responses and adaptation techniques to stimuli, environmental conditions, preferences, etc.

Recently, I took a chance and tried to use Novuskin Lift. It’s an anti-aging product that helps restore the skin’s natural elasticity through its scientific formulation that combines nature’s finest rejuvenating extracts with marine fish collagen, L-glutathione plus vitamins, and minerals.

For my one month’s use, I have seen how my hairfall significantly decreased. My skin feels smoother too, considering that I am not much of a lotion-user.

My sleep cycle improved too. Before, it takes me some time to get sleepy, but ever since I took NovuskinLift, it is now easier for me to get zzzzzzzs.

I will keep you updated in the coming months, as I take on this #NovuskinLiftJourney.

NovuskinLift is now available in Mercury Drug Stores and other leading drugstores.

You can also check Novuskin Lift on their website and social media accounts below:

How to Achieve Whiter Skin (+ A Glutathione Brand Review)

I have often been asked about how my skin never gets dark despite continuous sun-exposure and long hours of sun-bathing.

Believe me, I always fancied having tanlines I can parade in the city post-beach trip, but maybe the tide isn’t just on my side.

Nevertheless, like what they say, love the skin you’re in. And I love my color, it’s the only one I have anyway.

Remove-Dark-Spots-Using-Lemon-Juice-720x400.jpg

Credits: My Beauty Ways

But what I’d like to share with you today is how I keep my skin maintain its fair color, and some tips on how you can achieve that whiter skin. Trust me, it takes time, but that’s the safer route.

Let’s begin.

1.      Protect your skin from the sun.

Credits: Newchic

Of course, you know UV rays, apart from the fact that it encourages your skin to produce more melanin, it also has the ability to damage it. So use an umbrella, and bathe in sunblock! Haha Especially for the face! You don’t want additional wrinkles and dark spots, do you?

2.      Exfoliate your skin!

Since dead skin cells don’t naturally take themselves off, you can just help them by exfoliating.

You can either use body scrub, or use calamansi to rub in your dark areas. I use these on my elbows and knees. You can also use lemon with sugar as an alternative for the body scrub.

3.      Prick your pimples!

Credits: Fabhow

With clean hands or tools of course!

Contrary to pop culture, I think there is beauty and logic when it comes to pricking pimples earlier or using pimple-clearing speed gels.

It addresses to take away the bacteria that are inside soon before it invades more tissues underneath the skin. Prolonging the pimple or lump inside may cause more havoc as it is not yet being released.

You can see how the beauty aestheticians prick them during facials, and not let you wait until the eye appears or the pus, whether fresh or hardened, is ready to come out.

Letting the pus out sooner means you rid your skin more pimple mark space from darkening.

4.      Use your trusted organic or natural whitening products.

Credits: The Curls

These products / goodies are way safer and healthier than those that promise instant whitening. Instant whiteners have more chemicals that can be harmful.

Avoid bleaching too and its variants, as they may cause adverse effects in the future, particularly on your liver.

The liver is responsible for detoxifying all cosmetics and pharmaceutical products being applied topically or orally. So it’s not only your drinking that should be moderated! 😉
Remember, health should not be compromised with beauty. Okay, merfriends?

5.      Use Magic Cream for pimple and chicken-pox marks.

cream

There was a time I hoarded pants and leggings for a year, and I never wore shorts or skirts. This was the year after I had chicken pox. Magic Cream was a savior and erased all the dark marks left by the pox.

I stand by this product so much. It has restored the natural transparency of my skin. My arms and legs look like they never had chicken pox at all!

6.      Don’t wear white bikinis on the beach when the sun is up.

Credits: ZAFUL

The white color of the fabric is a good reflector of the light from the sun, when it bounces back – well, you know why your face got extra toasted that day. 😕

7.      You can try Glutathione pills.

I tried KB Glutathione for a month, and while reaction to glutathione pills is relative to each taker’s bodily mechanisms, I am quite happy with the results.

My skin had this radiant glow. And even though I was a late-sleeper, I still wake up fresh and my skin looks moisturized.
My face became clearer too as some of my pimple marks turned shades lighter.

It smells very eggy and foul too, one of my indicators that it’s potent and legit.

It melts easily as I had once let a capsule stay inside my mouth prior to drinking water for like some seconds, and it started to melt.

That’s a good sign actually, as it suggests that it certainly disintegrates once it’s inside the body.

KB Gluta is available in leading drugstores nationwide and can be bought in Lazada too!

You may find them on their social media accounts:

I hope you learned something with these tips, and got some ideas to try! Remember, you are beautiful no matter what color of your skin is!

Got any beauty / whitening tip or idea? Share them in the comments! I would love to know! 😁

How to Get Beautiful Underarms for P250

It’s always every girl’s dream to have the perfect underarms. The kind of pits you would always want to show off and parade whenever, wherever. The kind which does not dictate your fashion as when you can or cannot wear sleeveless.

But busy schedules get in the way, especially when you cannot properly allot the time to go to a waxing salon and hair removal clinics.

Believe me, my planner gets too colorful being jotted down by work and events, that I barely have time to go and receive my well-deserved waxing treatments.

Next thing you know, my monthly visitor is here already! Waaah! Another week to endure waxing delay.

Given that hair removal is just one step to beautiful underarms, I would just like to share some other tips that we can do to achieve the perfect pits we’ve always been craving for.

  1. Don’t shave. Ever.

I have known this before I even grew hair in my underarms. Having such a vain and beauty-conscious mother is such a blessing! Hehe :p

underarm_shaving_happy

Shaving takes away the outermost layer of one of the most sensitive skin in our body, and prompts the underlying tissues to react and produce a tougher and darker skin.

“When skin is irritated, an inflammatory reaction ensues, which stimulates pigment-making cells (melanocytes) to generate more pigment, causing the skin to become darker,” says Baton Rouge, LA, dermatologist Ann C. Zedlitz, MD.

  1. Avoid wearing tight clothes, especially if you just had your underarm hair removed.

Tight clothes inhibits the natural growth of hair follicles causing them to go back to the skin and harbor bacteria. This is one of the reasons of painful ingrown hair.

Wearing body-fitting clothes, especially those under your arms can cause irritation, sweating, and skin friction.

  1. Exfoliate underarms with natural ingredients.

Lemon and Sugar

sugar lemon

Take a bowl, mix 2 teaspoon of granulated sugar and 1 squeezed lemon juice. Apply the mixture to your underarms, and wait for 10 minutes until it dries.

Gently scrub your armpits for around 2minutes then rinse with lukewarm water.

This home-made exfoliant rids your underarms from dead skin cells, smoothens texture, and removes dark-skin-causing bacteria, leaving a more supple and bright pits

Potato Slices

potato slices

Soak potato slices in a bowl of water for 2 minutes. Rub them to your underarms after.

Potatoes have natural bleaching properties that helps in promoting bright underarm skin.

Yoghurt and Orange Peel

Yogurt-With-Orange-PeelIn a bowl mix 2 tablespoon of fresh yoghurt and some dried orange peel powder.

Apply the concoction to your underarms and let it to dry for about 15 minutes. Wait for it to dry completely, then rinse with cold water and apply some moisturizer.

This brightens your underarm keeping it moisturized and supple. Yoghurt’s lactic acid eliminates the skin discoloration.

  1. Avoid aluminum and parabens in your deodorant and antiperspirant.

If your underarms have become a bit red, swollen, bumpy and irritated, kindly check your antiperspirant to see if there are any aluminum ingredients in it; because it is one of the ingredients available in most underarm products that highly causes breast cancer among its users.

antiperspirant

Antiperspirants basically block your sweat, which is the unnatural thing to do. We need to sweat to rid off bacteria and toxins from the body. The aluminum salt in most antiperspirants block your pores and keep you dry, but this could also irritate your skin.

The yellowing of our shirts in the underarm area is actually the stain left by the reaction of the aluminum contents with the urea (waste products from the body) in our sweat.

Antiperspirants that contain alcohol may also be too drying for some people’s skin, which can lead to irritation, as can any ingredient that ends in “-paraben” (such as methylparaben).

  1. Use natural or organic underarm skin care.

To be honest, I really had a hard time finding a natural deodorant before, but I recently saw this wittily named product that can be the answer to our underarm woes.

Pits Perfect is an all-natural deodorant spray. It whitens, fights odor-causing bacteria, leaving you fresh, cool and clean.

Don’t even start with its fragrance. It reminds me of the scent of citrus fruits and flowers combined.

I have been using Pits Perfect for a month now, and my underarm skin condition improved greatly. My chicken skin is actually smoother now, compared before.

They have clearly settled that Pits Perfect is not an antiperspirant, because the brand actually adheres to sweating, reasoning that it’s healthier and natural.

And the best thing about this is it doesn’t have parabens and aluminum content!
I just apply 2-3 sprays per underarm, and I’m smelling fresh all day! I don’t even need to use perfume! 😀

And can you believe that this is just P250.00?

Free Manicure and More at Nailaholics on National Pampering Day

I can’t believe it has been a year ever since Nailaholics Nail Salon and Spa launched its very first National Pampering Day!

I was so excited when I heard about it, considering I rarely go to nail salons; that is why you can imagine how I must’ve felt when they brought in the news that they are celebrating their 2nd year!

The National Pampering Day last year was such a big hit as they offered free manicure service and soothing hand massages from 1-AM to 12NN.

This year is so much better though because everyone will be treated to a free service of their choice: calming foot spa, a relaxing foot massage or a lulling manicure.

With Nailaholics’ recent partnership with O.P.I., a leading and well-loved nail lacquer brand in the world, the National Pampering Day will welcome more guests with an extension up to 1PM!

Moreover, this year’s celebration will also support the World Vision, The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), and Save the Philippine Seas.

I took this chance to experience Hand and Foot Paraffin! It was hot at first, but you’ll get used to it in no time!

When I got into their Fisher Mall branch to have some perfect nail-time,I also saw a good friend! Yay! It’s Me-an Clemente of Yogo and Cream! I remember being extra chatty with her during a pampering session last July.

I was also with John that day, and he also had his manly pampering. Who says guys don’t need a mani-pedi? 🙂

Now save the date, October 17, 2017 (Tuesday) from 10AM to 1PM, and head on to any Nailaholics Nail Salon and Spa and go get yourself a free relaxing foot spa, foot massage or manicure!

Your only responsibility tomorrow, is to loosen up and enjoy!

Skin Philosophie by Dr. Kyla Talens

As a millennial Filipina, I suppose you would agree that maintaining good physical image in today’s society is crucial. You have every tool and application at hand that can possibly turn our photos from ordinary to something extra wonderful.

As a blogger, things have changed quite a bit for me. When I was still working, I have this constant notion to keep myself well-groomed at all times to serve as a good example to my trainees. But right now, things had to go up a notch.

For some reason, I never had the time to go to skin clinics, not because I was too busy, but because I thought I was doing okay. I mean, I use a fair number of beauty products, so maybe I was trying enough to take good care of myself, but when I got invited to Skin Philosophie’s event, I realized maybe I should try to consider paying a visit soon.

It’s not really because of vanity, but I guess there can be services that you thought you don’t need but you actually do. For example, eye rejuvenation. I never thought that my simple and random late night activities could cause my eyebags to look really bad.

I am not getting any younger, so investing on my skin and my health should probably be lifted to my top 5 priorities now.

I am so happy that I got to know Skin Philosophie and the brain behind this medical aesthetic and lifestyle solution center.

Dr. Kyla Talens, M.D., DCD, MSc

Dr. Kyla Talens, M.D., DCD, MSc who was celebrating her birthday that day is the CEO and the Chief Aesthetic Dermatologist of Skin Philosophie. Her main interest was aesthetic medicine, specifically skin and laser treatments.

She earned her degree and education from University of the Philippines, Cardiff University in the United Kingdom and Ramathibodi Hospital – Mahidol University, Thailand.

She said that she also incorporates her creative and artistic inclination into her practice. She emphasizes that, “It is of paramount importance for a doctor to have a keen eye for symmetry and proportion so that results look natural after procedures.” And I couldn’t agree more!

I had the best time discovering how Skin Philosophie can help me in my skin problems, which is why I cannot wait to have my own treatment very soon.

Boutique Clinic Concept

The services and facilities are all comfortably placed in a luxurious boutique clinic. I can’t help but admire the casual yet elegant atmosphere. The clinic firmly believes that they want to make their patients feel at ease as they undergo a very positive change in their lives.

Their portfolio of services include, scar repair, age-proofing, age reversing, acne solutions, body contouring with fat reduction, face sculpting, laser treatments, whitening, therapeutic massages, non-surgical procedures, dermal filler injections, face and body art and many more!

Affordable Luxury on Skin Care and Services

The place and location could be a little intimidating, no doubt about that. But the best news is that, while their treatment costs are not exactly that low, they are not abusively high. After all, overly cheap things cannot be trusted.

The smart patients put premium on the value of money. And it is also important to invest in one’s physical image, but there should be enough left for other finer and more significant things in life. After all, we should always spend wisely.

3 Things Why Foot for the gods is Not Like Your Ordinary Spa

I have been meaning to get a massage ever since I got back from my trip, and I was just too busy to find time! Goodie, I had a free day and took this chance to get my much-needed reflexology! Yay! 🙂

It was my second time at Foot for the gods, and I have always loved how different they are from other spas. They are not your ordinary massage salon, so read more to find out why you need to schedule your appointment today. 🙂

  1. Unconventional Set-Up

First is, they do not have cubicles. You get to enjoy your well-deserved pampering while having the freedom of talking to your friends. It would also be a perfect date idea, and you can hold hands with your beau while your masseurs are massaging your oh-so-tired feet.

Although, if I may advise to keep your voices at a minimum, since there are also other clients in the room. And you may need a flash when you want to take a selfie, because the whole massage common room is on dim light.

  1. More acupressure, and less kneading

I think it’s the Foot for the gods’ exceptional service that’s why people keep coming back. They have such an effective method in relieving stress and tensed muscles.

I was surprised how exact the pressure application was. Their style leans more on acupressure than kneading, which was very odd for me at first, considering it was a dry massage, but I was totally sold on how I felt after.

I didn’t expect my muscles were too overwrought from all the activities I did the past weeks! Gosh!

  1. Specialty Spa Products

Honestly, I like the opportunity of being able to bring home something that can sustain the service, or for this matter relaxation, that I have experienced from the home establishment.

Foot for the gods’ actually has their own perfume and spa product lines. You can avail Scent by the gods, and Muscle Pain Relief Spray when you ask their staff, which come in really affordable prices!

I highly recommend you try and visit them as soon as possible to experience a whole new meaning on stress relieving. Thank me after my merfriends! 😀

You can visit them at the following branches:

SM Megamall   |   SM Mall of Asia   |   SM South Mall   |   Main Square, Bacoor Cavite

Like them on Facebook

Contact number : (055) 607 2763

Feel like a god or goddess at Foot for the gods, and discover why they are the number 1 in reflexology in the Philippines since 2006!

See you there soon? 😀

Get a Free Body Scrub at Finessa Aesthetica

When I was a kid I often wondered how it was like to be a grown-up lady.

IMG_20170822_150802-01

I suppose “she” never had to endure weird torn up skin appearing just below her nails. She never had to clean her toes after wearing open-toe sandals the whole day.
And she would always smell sweet no matter how intense the sun is.
When it was my turn to finally find out what happens when you’re a lady, I realized it wasn’t totally hearts and flowers after all.
You have to put in an extra effort and invest.
When I was 8, I also remember being fond of watching TV and lying there, curious on why celebrities have this rich, fair and well-nourished skin.
I would be a hypocrite if I tell you I never wanted to be like them, or even have that gorgeous skin. But I’m glad for my parents’ genes because achieving my dream skin felt that it was not so far-fetched as I thought it would be.

IMG_20171004_195038.JPG

I was given a chance to try a few services from Finessa Aesthetica, and I felt more like a princess than a lady.

IMG_20170822_152932.jpg

Together with some of my blogger friends, we took the opportunity to experience how it feels to be pampered and prettified at the same time.

IMG_20170822_162422.jpgIMG_20170822_162527-02

We started with our Whitening Glutathione Drip. It was my first time so I didn’t know what to expect. All I knew is I felt calmer after, and my muscles felt more relaxed.

LIPO LIGHT WRAP

I also tried their Lipo Light Wrap.

I was asked to take a shower and wear this suit while I was inside the lipo light machine.

IMG_20170822_171827.jpgIMG_20170822_172547.jpgIMG_20170822_173848.jpg

Lipo Light Wrap is a service wherein it predisposes your body to sweat by being subjected to some light therapy inside the machine. This is best for people who would want to lose weight, expel toxins and have a better blood circulation.
I fell asleep! Haha 🙂 The whole service is timed for an hour.

IMG_20170822_173915.jpgIMG_20170822_184401.jpg

After Lipo Light Wrap I was supposed to experience Laser Lipo in the tummy area. But since I was advised that it may have a downtime and can elicit a few blisters, I politely declined.
My skin is blister-friendly, so it’s a big no no. Tell your beauty aesthetician if you have this similar condition so they can advise you properly.
However, the day wasn’t even drawing to a close as I thought it would.

IMG_20170822_193714.jpgIMG_20170822_191807.jpg

Minutes later, these diodes were on my tummy area, sending electric currents to my ab muscles.

IMG_20170822_191251.jpgIMG_20170822_191256.jpg

The Ab Sculpt Procedure is probably every gym-allergic person’s bestfriend. If you are too tired or too busy to hit the gym, and would just like to work on the tummy part alone (just like me) this may be a good alternative!

30 minutes of Ab Sculpt is equivalent to around 200 sit-ups! And it doesn’t even cost a fortune!
I had the most amazing time at Finessa Aesthetica! Can you believe all of these services are just in one establishment? 🙂

PS.

Now I know what to answer my 8-year-old self-wonders. That looking like a lady, or a princess rather needs work. You have to give time, effort, and invest when you can.
Maintaining an image can and may come with a price. You can opt to avail or not. You always have a choice.
But I’d rather believe that I can always work smart to afford, and not sulk on why the world is just the way it is and complain about why it cannot give me what I want to be happy.

Stay happy and beautiful merfriends! 🙂
Which of these services would you like to try?
