My Experience in Interviewing the Gogozing Founder, Edward Rimmington

It’s been raining for 6 straight days already! How wet can we be?

Anyway, I am just so happy that I got to do this interview waaaay before the whole metro is dripping wet from the constant downpour.

Let me share something about work on this post since I rarely really write about the behind-the-scenes of the brands and people I work with.

I am just really excited about this one, and quite challenged too, that is why I came prepared. I wrote my own questions and reviewed some interview tips on the web to guide me in my first ever interview blog and vlog.

IMG_20180601_190001-01.jpeg

So one afternoon, with my pregnant belly, and hardly-fitting corporate dress, I went out to meet Mr. Edward Rimmington, the Founder, and CEO of Gogozing.

About the Company

The term “Gogozing” means ‘Let’s go!’ or ‘Let’s do it. This is a popular expression in South Korea with “Go” coming from English word “go” and “Zing” being the sound of someone heading fast towards their target.

The “Zing” word actually reminds me of the movie Hotel Transylvania. I quite remember that it was part of the script of the lead characters, for it has such a positive ring to it.

The “Gogozing Migration” brand is built for people who want to go to Australia therefore “Let’s go” or “Let’s do it” provides that warm cheer and encouragement.

Gogozing Logo

Gogozing Migration is an independent Australian immigration agency based in Melbourne, Australia, and Seoul, South Korea. They focus on providing high-quality immigration services to businesses, families, and individuals worldwide.

The company focuses on being trustworthy, reliable and 100% consumer-centered while selecting the most effective yet practical strategy in achieving client’s migration goals. They provide tourist and migration visas to Australia and are also very keen in helping Filipinos kickstart their Australian dream.

received_10216640826998814-01.jpeg

I was extremely impressed on how Mr. Rimmington was able to set up his company in such a young age, and how he was able to utilize his past working opportunities to recognize the need for Filipino migration assistance.

First thing is that I learned that he is a registered Australian migration agent (MARN: 1688177) who prior to establishing Gogozing Migration, worked and lived in South Korea in the field of international business. He was primarily involved in the consultancy and aiding enterprises from all around the world to enter the South Korean Market.

Inspiration to Start

While living in South Korea, Edward had his own share of experiences dealing with migration matters. It gave him a whole new perspective about people wanting to do business and starting a new life in a different country. He found that there were a lot of people who needed extra assistance and guidance about what they should do so their visas could be approved, and how can they adjust their lifestyle in a foreign land.

received_10216640827078816-01.jpeg

It was during this time that Edward got inspired to start Gogozing Migration. He thought that with his in-depth knowledge of international business and Australian Migration Law, he would be able to help others regarding their migration concerns. He thought that with a friendly and forthright approach, Gogozing Migration will be able to effectively help those who would want to explore their future in Australia.

And did I say he also speaks Korean? It was a shocker, but I still managed to keep my cool.

IMG_2616

Honestly, I do not know much about migration, but this one definitely opened up a whole new world for me. I learned many things and at the same time, I gained friends! 😀

Mr. Edward Rimmington is such an inspiration, especially for startup founders. This only makes me believe that it only takes an eye and a deeper understanding to recognize a problem and provide a solution.

I was actually surprised that we got to finish sooner than I expected because I thought it would be too tedious and difficult. But apparently, Mr. Rimmington was a natural, and I was too! Haha Or I became comfortable later on since I got to shoot some scenes at the end part of the interview.

I am thrilled to show you guys how this interview will turn out, so watch out for my vlog very soon!

To know more details you can check them at Gogozing Migration, Facebook, and Instagram! 🙂

Till then merfriends! 😀

Bubble Man for a Happy Wife and a Happy Life

Truly, married life is totally different from the days when I still stay in my parents’ house. It has a lot of adjustments, and can be pretty tricky especially if you’re not really the household-chore type of girl, and when you’re allergic to almost everything!

That is why I am so lucky when my husband and I found a way to work around our roles in our little home, in preparation as well as we await our little bundle of joy!

Since I don’t cook (Disclaimer: Not that I’m too ‘maarte’, but the smoke really gets to me. I can really get sick from the allergies just by smelling fried garlic, fried rice, onions, etc.) , we were able to establish that John does the cooking, while I wash the dishes.

Now that I am answerable to our clean plates and his clean pans, I am so happy that I found Bubble Man!

IMG_20180528_115440-01.jpeg

Bubble Man is a highly efficient, economical, environmental-friendly and Philippine-made Dishwashing Liquid that promises to make cleaning easier and more fun for the entire family.

Would you believe that is three times more affordable than the market’s popular and leading brands? Growing up, I’ve been used to watching commercials showing the efficacy of such brands, and now that I am a wife, and a soon-to-be mother, I am wondering if there are other alternatives for me, especially that we have to manage the budget effectively.

IMG_20180528_115606-01.jpeg

It is good to know that upon using it, I was able to clean more dishes with just a small amount, not to mention it can easily rinse off. But for this morning, my husband was extra sweet to take the liberty to wash the dishes on my behalf. I might have overslept and abused my snooze button!

IMG_20180528_115219-01-01.jpeg

He said he loved using our new dishwashing liquid! 😀 But was a little creeped out when I started positioning the bottles and took this photo. Hehe 😛

A single drop mixed in water can already be used to clean the kitchen sink, few more drops in a water bucket can make an entire floor spotless; you can even use it to clean your car! And the best of it all, its gentle formula, can be mild enough to clean toys, milk bottles, and even my delicate make-up brushes!

I don’t even have to buy separate washing liquids for the last few items I mentioned!

I was surprised how gentle it is on my hands as well, it’s like a handsoap too! No need to put hand lotion after!

IMG_20180528_115411-01.jpeg

Bubbleman comes in three variants: Lemon, Antibac, and Kalamansi scents. The 270 ml size retails for only Php 32.50, while the 880 ml bottle retails for only Php 70.00, with special promo pack 270ml for only 55.00 while promo pack 880ml is only 130.00

You can find Bubble Man at all leading supermarket such as Puregold, Mercury Drugs, Robinson, Waltermart, Landmark, Fishermall Supermarket, METRO  and other groceries nationwide and is a proud product of Mikewell Corporation.

Mikewell Corporation is a 100% Filipino-owned company established by two Chemical Engineers in 2005, with the objective of creating house cleaning products that improve quality of life, through clean homes and a safe environment.

7 Times I Felt Fearless, Fierce and Playfully Bold (Some Secrets Revealed!)

Have you ever had that moment when the world agrees that you are weak, obsolete, and someone who cannot do anything better with her life?

If your answer is yes, same here! 😀

Everybody has those periods of weaknesses, but it doesn’t matter how many times you felt betrayed, disappointed, hurt – all that matters is that you were able to rise up, and be a phoenix from those ashes.

Let me share something personal today because I’m feeling sentimental and extra motivating. Haha 😀 Because nothing is sweeter and worth-reading that those inspiring stories that let you reflect on your own to do something that will yield growth for the next 24 hours.

On Family and Friends

  1. I am a registered nurse, and obviously, I didn’t pick my course, but I had to do it because that’s what my Dad wants. I had to be a good daughter, and I know he just wants the best for me. After graduation, and passing the boards, I knew I had to do something with my life, and that doesn’t include using my PRC license.

nurse

My Dad and I had a discussion, a long and gruesome one. He wanted me to join the family business if I don’t intend to work in a hospital. I was so thirsty with the life outside of school, so I made my stand. I said I want to work and experience how it is like to be part of an organization that does not involve any assistance or connection from my parents. I want to know if I am cut for a job, just by being me.

And so, I got hired and became an SEO Copywriter! No assistance, no connections. License not needed. Just me, and whatever I have in this frail little body.

  1. Sometimes, it really takes a whole lot of courage to be honest with a friend, especially if you think that the truth might hurt them. I once had an experience with a friend who wants to change her life and attract a mate but didn’t know where to start. I had to tell her that she needs to love and take good care of herself, to invite wealthy situations and wonderful people in her life.

Golly, I was so cautious to pick the right words so I wouldn’t have to hurt her feelings, especially when I told her she needed a makeover. But that’s something I am not regretting, because she was able to change her disposition towards herself, and that’s quite enough for me.

On Career

  1. I took 3 board exams. The Nursing Licensure Exam, which I passed. The Real Estate Broker Exam, which I passed, again. And the Real Estate Appraiser Exam, which I failed.

I have never felt such a failure in my entire life. I have always been accustomed to winning, to getting what I want, and not anticipating anything might go wrong. As for my plans for the 3rd exam, I got a taste of something I never even planned of cooking.

My boss back then told me, that I don’t have to prove anything, as far as career is concerned. I am good at what I’m doing, and a failed attempt for a third license is not going to diminish my value as a professional and as a person.

IMG_20170720_202845

IMG_20170725_143118-01

Via Galang 5

I soon realized that failures are just disguised blessings, because fate and Someone Up There has their way of giving you something more, something you deserve, and something that’s going to weigh more than the other failed plans you even bothered conjuring.

After that, I became a Shoe Designer and a Public Speaker. Not bad, don’t you think?

  1. I was too shy to raise concerns about my needs and directions as a professional, thinking that I may be regarded as too ambitious or too demanding. But after months of contemplating and reflecting, I was able to finally find the nerve and the bravery to speak up.

I filed my resignation. And soon started a career on freelance, and put up my own business.

IMG_20170914_160656-01

IMG_20170914_160732-01

I knew the career path I wanted to take, and I am thankful I found the guts to follow it; knowing that my dreams will not be handed to me, I have to get them myself.

On Love

  1. It’s funny how some people advise you that no one goes away from someone who is tall, fair, beautiful, rich, an heir to a business empire, etc. But nobody tells you that it’s also okay to let go when you think the relationship is going nowhere.

How is that even possible? I once had this perfect guy, and he was all sweet and nice, and gentlemanly, and everything you can think of your ideal prince charming. Only that, he was not customized for me. He was a generic Ken doll, and  I’m a specialized Barbie.

It took me almost a year to realize that, and muster the sanity that I have to get out of that relationship. I was kidding myself that maybe I was too “maarte” or too choosy. He was indeed a perfect guy, but not the perfect One for me.

So I guess do not be afraid of walking out on the love that you think you don’t deserve.

  1. I’d like to use this part on how I met my husband. I was definitely the epitome of fearless, fierce and exceptionally bold. I met him on Christmas of 2015 in a club in BGC.

John+Via-429_preview.jpeg

He was like a shiny new toy. Chinito, may braces, makinis, rosy lips, very Oppa! Someone I think will not even give me a second look. We chatted for a while, maybe around 45 minutes tops, and then my tita friends said we had to go home.

It was 3AM! But I was so engrossed in his personality and our conversation, that I asked them (my friends) for an extra 15 minutes. But my girl buddies were on haste. So I had to decide if I should go home or not.

FB_IMG_1513781005237.jpg

FB_IMG_1514453335642.jpg

John+Via Wedding-318_preview.jpeg

In about 2 seconds in my mind I was thinking like: If I go home, I will always wonder what will have been had I stayed? But if I stay, I will find out. After all, you only live once. And it’s just one adventurous night, that I can tell my future grandkids!

Yes, for 2 seconds!

So I said, “I’ll stay! For 30minutes. Then I’ll leave, promise!”

Haha 😀 At the back of my head, I was taking a chance. On a total stranger! That I just met that night! Allowing myself to have 30 minutes of a chance at a possible boyfriend, or friend, or connection. Haha 😀 Assuming!

John+Via Wedding-333_preview.jpeg

If I knew I was staying for a chance at love, marriage, and for the rest of my life, I could have dropped that 30-minute detail in my disclaimer! Haha 😀

You can imagine my friends’ reactions when I told them I’m choosing to stay. Haha :p

So the lesson is, take risks! But choose them wisely! 😀

On Life

  1. The most difficult downfall I ever had was to witness my mother pass away from the life as we know it.

You can never prepare enough for a death of a loved one, especially with someone who was entirely essential to make you alive for your first 9 months of life.

She was my hero – my biggest influence. I still get teary when I talk and write about her. I feel so honored to be her daughter, to be her extension, to be her legacy.

IMG_20180521_162113.JPG

FB_IMG_1526891154687.jpg

viamom3

There is no forgetting, you may just get used to the pain, in that small hollow part in your heart. I may have moved on, but her memory will always flourish, and the fact that she has shared her strength, her wisdom, her talent, her passion, her love, her life to me is what’s going to making me fearless, fierce, and playfully bold for the rest of my years until I see her again.

And that my merfriend is how you own life, be unabashedly beautiful, confident, unfazed by nothing, and empowered from within.

How to Dress Bohemian without Trying Too Hard

Bohemian Style is probably one of the fashion looks I never got to completely pull – maybe because my Mom, who is predominantly my fashion consultant, never really had the inspiration to dress me this way.

bohemian-festival

She was too busy making me look prim and proper, with all those flowers and bows, and everything pink and lacy.

That is why I was quite curious with this fashion style that I tried to piece together a recipe that’s going to be friendly to “newbie hippies” like me, meaning looking like someone who’s not totally clueless, and can easily pull off the boho style without looking too amateur. You get me?

Anyway, let’s define it first.

Bohemian style often referred to as “boho” or “boho chic” is a style of dressing that was popularized during the 1960s and 1970s.

The essence of bohemian is focusing on free and flowy fabrics. This style also emphasizes concern for the environment so natural fabrics and used clothing are commonly worn. You can say that it’s not something you have to spend a fortune on. Good thing!

The bohemian style also emphasizes finding the clothing that makes you feel in harmony with yourself and with nature so we can say that it is safe to not assume that there are any strict and fast rules about what is and isn’t bohemian.

THE WARDROBE

The look is inspired by traveling gypsies, which means they have to travel with almost everything they own that they devised the layering technique. This keeps them warm and allows them to avoid carry extra heavy clothing.

Most Bohemian clothes also come with long flowy skirts. The idea is to be free and look relaxed. These are very comfortable and if worn right can make anyone look extra inches taller.

I have been eyeing some great finds at DRESSLILY, and I cannot wait to SHOP NOW.

THE HAIR AND MAKEUP

Since this look has a very tranquil vibe, your makeup can just look simple and natural. If you have wavy hair, you can just opt to style it by using a mouse to keep the natural curls and waves. If you have straight hair, you can change up in a good braid. This will make your whole look more bohemian!

THE ACCESSORIES

wsi-imageoptim-hippie-accessories-ethnic-necklace-bohemian-jewelry

If your outfit is pretty subtle, you can add a few bold pieces of jewellery, but stick to natural tones and avoid jewelry that is plastic. Look for accessories that are made from leather, refined wooden threads, beads, and shells.

1510636878959061923

Colorful earrings are my favorite!

You can also add belts, scarves, and hats to complement your look.

THE SHOES

shoes

Nothing is ever complete without your trusty shoes! You can wear leather sandals, beaded shoes, or even cute leather boots!

And now you’re ready for your Bohemian style debut! Of course, there are lots of things you can add, but these 4 major boho staples combined together is your express ticket into winning that Bohemian look!

Do you think you can pull this off? Let’s try together, shall we? 😀

What You Need to Know About Boudoir Photography

The title of this post just makes me giggle a little bit. I mean I am not an expert with photoshoots, and I am not a photographer either, but I am just in so much awe about this concept.

I just feel that it really screams women empowerment and a great showcase of confidence!

So what am I talking about really?

Buyagift

Credits: Buyagift

A Boudoir Photography is “a photographic style featuring intimate, romantic, and sometimes racy or suggestive but classy images of its subjects in a bedroom or private dressing room”.

I am a member of a wedding group, and this is where I learned so much about this rather sensual photography panache. Usually, the bride engages in a photo shoot and wills to give the polished work to her groom as a wedding gift. It has an utter feeling of a “for-your-eyes-only” gift.

So let me just round up some things that you should know, just in case you finally brave up and take the leap of holding your very own boudoir shoot!

THE STYLE

person-woman-girl-405239

You can actually form your own concept. Oftentimes, brides opt to hold it in a private location or room, like the one in hotels, to maximize privacy. You can look like a modern maven, a French maid, a morning-after-look vixen, a sexy Fifty Shades of Grey rip-off, a pin-up girl, the fifty’s, the sky is the limit!

It is up to you too should you want everything in black and white or in whimsy filters and colors.

THE MAKEUP

Valerie Hammer Makeup Artistry

Credits: Valerie Hammer Makeup Artistry

I suggest you streamline it with your chosen theme. Most of the time I see women in smokey eyes, and nude lip tints for that sultry look. Or you can always try that innocent, no-makeup makeup look. 🙂

THE PHOTOGRAPHER

587cd003170000850192a4e1

This can be a little tricky though because some girls prefer an all-girl team. They feel more comfortable when they know that everything will be handled by females, knowing that the concept is a bit intimate. But for me, I don’t really mind. I am more concerned about their talent, and abilities to execute great images for me to worry about gender.

THE WARDROBE

You can actually look for lacy pieces, white button-downs, robes, or sexy lingerie. Just in case you don’t find anything you like in the local stores, you can always try to SHOP NOW at ROSEGAL. They have amazing collections for sheer bodysuits.

THE EXPECTATION

Finesse Boudoir Photography

Credits: Finesse Boudoir Photography

Here’s the thing, it doesn’t matter if you think you’re over or under the weight that you are supposed to be in. This is about accepting your flaws and highlighting your assets. It is about a celebration of you being a woman, right here, right now.

I am pretty bummed that I haven’t done it yet, but I’m thinking of holding one for my maternity shoot, and once I get my pre-pregnancy body back.

Now if you’re considering on having your own boudoir photoshoot, here is a resounding BIG YES! Go for it, and don’t let anybody tell you, you shouldn’t.

Your body, your rules! Go, merfriend!

5 Clothes You Should Be Hoarding this Summer and What You Can Pair Them With

No doubt, that I’m unapologetically biased only to two seasons  in the Philippines – summer and Christmas!

Now while the cold and merriment is still so far off in the calendar, I would like to draw more attention to the season we’re currently at, and happily uncomplaining about!

IMG_1926-01.jpeg

Since I’m pregnant too, and very giddy to get my old body back, let me share with you some clothes that I’ve been dying to wear myself and believe will make your Instagram profiles worth more hearts and followers than they already have.

Here they are!

  1. A Graphic Tee

Graphic Tee

This is totally a classic! Nothing is more convincing for a laidack + chic combo than a top with happy colors and edgy figures. You can also pair it with shorts and white sneakers, or you can even wear a long tight skirt with a sexy slit to add more flare!

  1. Dainty and Frilly Romper

    Dainty and Frilly

Old rose or muted pink is just perfect for all skin colors! They complement every complexion, and scream sophistication. This number can be very versatile as well, just change your shoes and you can whisk your event from dawn to dusk!

  1. Bohemian Floral Dress

Bold Color with Mini Florals

This dress is also very flexible. You can opt to look girly or a little on the boho side. You can pair it with stappy sandals, blocked heels, criss-cross flats, booths, sneakers, you name it! Plus, it doesn’t hurt to wear a boater hat too, or would you rather wear a bow scarf instead?

  1. Striped Shirt Dress

Stripes

It actually depends how you would want to wear this one. As for me, I would definitely wear this as a dress. I can just wear a little denim shorts underneath, just to be safe! And I can pair it with a nice duo of black high heels, pony tail, gold hoop earrings and a bloody red lipstick. I like how all of these details put something so simple, yet so foxy.

Or if you’re a little conservative, you can always pair this with a posh acid-washed skinny jeans and some boldly colored flats, or taupe, whichever mood you’re in. J

But I would still recommend the ponytail. This way, your sexy shoulders can get the attention they truly deserve.

  1. Maxi White Floral Dresses

    Maxi White Florals

Maxi Formal

These ensembles can be perfect for beach trips and formal events. You can even wear one to a wedding, plus it doesn’t need too much accessorizing. Just a pair of little earrings and a nice bag and you’re good to go!

It would be awesome if you have these in your wardrobe already, but just in case this post gave you another reason to hoard some new clothes, you can always check ZAFUL to see their amazing collections!

Trust, it’s worth a look! 😀

So what are you waiting for, get hold of your summer ootds and SHOP NOW! 😀

What Dishes to Try at The Fat Seed , UP Town Center

IMG_2457

THE FAT SEED ‘s name couldn’t have been more on point than it already is. I am usually very curious about how entrepreneurs, idealists, and creatives come up with a brand name. So, I asked. 😀

Why the restaurant is called THE FAT SEED?

SEED, is usually referred to an idea, a concept, a movement waiting to be cultivated or acted upon. FAT can also be associated with richness, fullness and a huge resource of what can be more, and what can be done.

So naturally, THE FAT SEED is a dream that is bound to be fulfilled with a lot of possibilities. Upon hearing the story behind it, I was seriously excited about what’s to come, and what my stomach and taste buds will tell.

THE INTERIORS

IMG_2465IMG_2477

The restaurant is glazed by a modern industrial architecture. Wall murals were eye catchy, and very millennial. The irregularly-shaped wooden tables were polished and sophisticated together with the metal chairs.

The counter was inviting, and the neatly-hung written menu was a great addition to add novelty and fun. The mugs on a made-up wall-shelf gave the place a warm café-vibe. It really looked less intimidating.

THE MENU

We had a talk with the chef, and basically he oriented us that they were extra experimental and crafty with their dishes. We were to expect traditional food being given a different twist, and family recipes being set to newer versions. And I could say, my palate was already clinking and swiping its pair of knives and forks by the thoughts of it.

Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Ube Waffle in Salted Egg Sauce (P325).

IMG_2494

It comes with bacon infused maple syrup for the waffles, salted egg sauce for the fried chicken , and pickled red onions. Well, you can just actually pair them with anything on the plate, because they create a unique taste combination, and a total food experience. I love how the waffles were soft and supple, and the sauces were even more stirring to try.

The Fat Seed Signature Porkchop (P395)

IMG_2498

When you go here, make sure you don’t miss ordering this one! Aside from its shocking affordable price, it is definitely something you’ll recommend to friends to eat.

The beer brine porkchop was such a delight; it was soft, tender and extremely favorful. The cream deli mustard sauce gave it an extra kick. The home-made miso, and sweet potato puree were a great addition to give it a more rallying taste.

Hotate Soy Cream Pasta (P385)

IMG_2503

It has Japanese soy cream, scallops, ebiko, bonito flakes, and nori shreds. This is one of their best-sellers, and I don’t see any reason why it shouldn’t. It was nothing like I’ve ever tasted before. The spices were blended evenly, giving it an unforgettable unique taste. If you’re an adventurous foodie, this is definitely a must-try.

Wagyu Pares (P305)

IMG_2489

The Wagyu Pares was served in what you can recall your elementary/highschool lunch containers. It was a perfect and rather a nostalgic choice of plate if you’d ask me, because it comes with three cogs, – the wagyu beef cubes with beef broth, fried rice, and shao xing rice wine.

Together, they were just an impeccable choice to have at lunch, or share with a classmate, I mean officemate, or friend, or whatever. 🙂

Mushroom Fritters (175)

IMG_2488

These are deep fried oyster mushroom served with homemade ketchup. I love how simple and tasty these are. They are a pretty good choice for appetizers.

Purple Haze and Rojito (Coming Soon)

IMG_2520

The restaurateurs were generous enough to let us get the first dibs on concoctions that are yet to be included in the menu – the Purple Haze, a whiskey sour and served with cranberry that makes the cocktail purple in color; and The Rojito, a mojito sprinkled with a recipe twist.

Since I’m pregnant, I tried to research first before I can have a taste, and it said a little cocktail wouldn’t hurt, so I just probably sprinkled some drops on my tongue just to know the taste. The Rojito was nice, although the Purple Haze was a bit strong for me.

Coffee Cubes (P150)

IMG_2537

I didn’t have a go this one though, because I am really not a fan of coffee. Plus it’s caffeine, so maybe next time? But if you’re a coffee lover, know that this could be worth a try.

THE JUDGEMENT

IMG_2535IMG_2528

I believe this is a haven for those who would like to explore non-traditional takes on traditional recipes. It’s definitely exciting to bask in varied flavors and versions on dishes that you think you know already. It makes me think that if restaurants were travel destinations, you definitely must visit THE FAT SEED.

I highly recommend the place for dates, hang out with friends and quick chitchats. The prices are ranging from regular to a bit pricey, but I think with the kind of food dexterity they observe with their dishes, they are already reasonable. Be sure you also take photos with you, as this place is also very Instagrammable! The friendly staff would be very much willing to take your usual eating-position-shots,  #ootds and #atms!

Be Summer-Strong and Salty-Hair-Don’t-Care with Pantene UV Rescue

A6508170

IMG_2421

It’s May, and summer isn’t over yet! That means you can still go out and have that well-deserved vacation! 🙂

I bet you’ve already allotted your vacation leaves for your next beach trip, and now while you are still preparing that bag and hoarding all the sunblock you can get for your skin, why not try and get protection for your hair too!

The intense heat from the sun can cause a lot of damage to your hair, making it brittle, dry and lifeless. Not to mention that trouble can be heightened when you have bleached hair like mine. As Philippines is a tropical country, it is no wonder that the Solar UV index is above average during this time, and can be pretty annoying when you are trying to maintain glamorous locks.

Hair dehydration and breakage of essential protein are the common effects when you stay too long under the sun. The UV rays can be as nasty as that weighing scale when you’re on a fitness diet. Salt in the beach waters and chlorine in swimming pools can also catalyse damage to your hair. So while we strive to protect our skin from the UV, I think it’s also about time to shed some attention to our hair too, being it 3x more vulnerable to sun damage.

Oh yes, I’m being preachy because as someone who has bleached hair, and can’t get keratin treatment as of the moment, it’s so disheartening to know that a lot of girls are not weary in keeping their mane healthy and strong.

Goodie, the NEW Limited Edition Pantene UV Rescue Shampoo and 3 Minute Miracle conditioner is now here as your best partner to keep your Summer Strong with Hair Stronger Than The Sun! They can protect your hair from the sun, chlorine from swimming pool, and salt from beach water—elements that can severely damage your hair especially during the hottest season of the year.

#BeSummerStrong launch held last April 19 in Alta Guia, Taguig.

Can I say that their new and sunny packaging design inspired by the song, “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini” is soooo adorable! I can remember singing this song as a child! 😀

The graphics team sure did have a lot of fun conceptualizing this. It definitely makes it more exciting to use! Finally a shampoo and conditioner that is just as trendy as you!

How does Pantene UV Rescue work on your hair?

IMG_2447IMG_2451

To address these summer hair aggressors, Pantene UV Rescue offers a three-phased approach to prepare your hair BEFORE contact with sun and heat stressors, shield damage DURING contact, and then repair, replenish and rehydrate hair AFTER sun exposure and contact with salt or chlorinated water.

Pantene UV Rescue shampoo with its Pro-V formula gives hair protection from root to tip. It provides optimum care that goes deep within the core of your hair, giving it the antioxidants and the hydration it needs for each strand to be strong. It is perfect with the Pantene UV Rescue 3 Minute Miracle conditioner that can repair 3 months’ worth of hair damage and infused with the power of an ampoule that can add further hydration to your hair and instantly boost its smoothness and shine.

IMG_2439

Pantene UV Rescue 3 Minute Miracle gives your hair deeper long-lasting moisture that is lightweight and without the greasy feel you hate. It is recommend to use Pantene UV Rescue 3 Minute Miracle before swimming and after. Before swim application creates a layer of protection before the hair gets in contact with salt water or chlorine, keeping hair moisturized and smooth contrary to the sticky, dry and damaged feel we get after a long day of swimming under the sun. Then of course, after swim use provides deep moisture and repair.

5 Blogger Tips When Attending Media Events (and #CONNECT2018)

I have always been intrigued on creating a post like this.

Now, while I may not have the (acceptable) number of years about blogging professionally to be considered credible, I would just like to share some insights on what I have learned and observed in the several events I’ve been to, ever since Encyclopevia has made its name known to some brands and PRs, and as far as getting invited is concerned.

IMG_0912

IMG_0914

IMG_0969

A month ago, I was invited to attend #CONNECT2018. I soon realized it was a great opportunity for me to make new friends, and meet new people in the industry.

#CONNECT 2018: Festival of Stories is a bloggers’ party aimed to connect bloggers to bloggers, bloggers to brands, and more importantly, NGP to bloggers. This was a gathering to assemble, and foster a good working relationship among partner brand storytellers in the past, present, and future.

IMG_0927

IMG_0939

I haven’t worked with NGP in the past, so it would seem that the future just got brighter and more promising!

So here’s my take on what to expect, and observe whenever you go to blogging, media or PR events like this one. Again, I do not consider myself an expert; I am just merely creating a guide based on my experience. Or, pakialamera lang talaga ako. 😀

  1. Do consider if your blog relates to the brand or purpose of the event.

Like most invites I tend to ask myself first if it is worth going to, or if my blog fits the niche of the event. Of course you have to spend on fare and food just in case, so the affair must be something you can relate to and would love to write about.

IMG_0936

As for #CONNECT2018, I couldn’t be more excited. After beating my nausea episodes during my first trimester, I knew the event would be a great time to mingle and learn more about other creatives who share the same passion as I do.

  1. Be on time or cancel as early as you can, if you have to.

I’m guilty on this. I am not proud to say that I get late sometimes, but I know it’s something I have to improve on. As much as PRs are so kind and accommodating, I have also been in their shoes when I invited some media to our company’s event in the past.

It’s a little worrisome, because as a brand representative, you want things to be perfect and you don’t want your boss questioning your judgement on whether you invited the right people in the first place.

So, prepare early, leave early, prepare for the traffic jam!

**Note to self, and sharing to others. 😀

  1. Dress for the occasion and the venue.

IMG_0956

Of course you have to wear something nice, and appropriate for the event. While most people say comfort is key, I would like to press on to not compromising image as well. If you want to make a statement go ahead, it makes you more recognizable!

As for me, I’m still trying to keep whatever’s left of my red-orange mermaid hair. It makes me, Encyclopevia.

The venue is also as important as the outfit, because after all it dictates what type of clothing and shoes you’re going to wear.

IMG_0917

Since #CONNECT2018 was held in Greenfield District, I didn’t have any difficulty coming up with an ensemble. And to tell you the truth, this was a first for me to party in Greenfield District.

DCIM100MEDIADJI_0006.JPG

I must say that life becomes truly exciting when one has everything they need right outside their doorstep – from everyday necessities, access to business and commercial venues, to a continuum of lifestyle options from restaurants, entertainment, shopping, or relaxation hubs.

The fusion of modern, convenient living coupled with the comfort brought by a nature-rich haven is the kind of lifestyle Greenfield District offers. Not to mention that it is located in Mandaluyong City, which is in between Makati and Ortigas – an ideal place that’s probably 30++ minutes away from all the attendees’ homes.

  1. Bring lots of smiles and business cards.

IMG_0947

IMG_1018

You’ll never know who you’re going to meet, so you might as well be prepared. And don’t forget to network. Plus, have your data checked, so you can easily add them on Facebook or follow them on Instagram.

IMG_0983

Through this, I was actually able to score more collaborations and partnerships via networking. It expands your circle, and allows you to be more exposed to opportunities you didn’t even know were even there!

  1. Don’t be that person who just goes because of the freebies.

While it’s actually something that’s making us more motivated to go to an event, I think it shouldn’t just be the only or the top thing we have to consider.

Tokens are relevant, but the experience is something you’ll never have, had you stay home. Freebies are just items money can buy, but the connections you’ll build, the friends you’ll make, and the knowledge and skills you’ll learn, those are priceless.

And remember, be friendly, some people may be as anxious as you, just relax, make friends and enjoy! 😀

You’re in a position not everybody gets to have. Be grateful, and make the most out of the opportunity!

Having said my piece, it’s making me more excited to attend #CONNECT2018’s upcoming blogger workshops, webinars, blog monetizing talks, online creative writing seminars , SEO, Google Analytics, and more! 😀

IMG_1023

So, see you in future events, and lets #CONNECT! 😀

Playa La Caleta: Bataan’s Eco-Tourism Resort

Just when I thought that I’m going to miss so much about this year’s summer, an exciting adventure woke me one Friday morning. And guess what, I was going to Bataan! Yay!

IMG_1926-01.jpeg

IMG_2141-01.jpeg

I have only been in the province once in October 2014, where I visited Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar and Mt. Samat Shrine with my officemates. And truly, I have learned so much about that experience, including how much sacrifice our Filipino veterans have to do as they fought bravely in battle for freedom. It was truly a very compelling moment for me.

IMG_2067

Three years later, I never thought I’ll be given another chance to explore the wonders of Bataan again. While I was engrossed and way too overwhelmed by the beauty of the previous attraction, I didn’t expect there was more.

Apart from the rich culture and heart-warming history this place holds, they also happen to have cascading beaches and great sanctuaries for both land and sea.

IMG_1904-01.jpeg

I am so happy to have been introduced in one of the most-visited beach resorts in Bataan, Playa La Caleta.

IMG_2070

Playa La Caleta, which means “Beach Cove” is an eco-tourism resort found in Morong, Bataan. It was only opened two years ago but has garnered the attention of local and international tourists, TV shows, bloggers, and famous travelers already.

The 1-kilometer white sand stretches beautifully amidst the glowing sun. It is indeed a sight to behold. As you explore the island, you will also be greeted by a lush mountain of forest and 3 waterfalls when you pace deeper into the woods.

When you turn to your left, a 1-hectare islet, called Miguelito Island will also be waiting for your visit.

When all places seem to be wazeable, nothing can hurt with a little bit of instruction! 😉

The Accommodations

IMG_1891

IMG_2084

You can actually book days before or just walk in. For most of the locals, they opt to spend only on a day tour, but for people like me who live far away, let’s just say we really want to savor our trip and rest after a long travel, hence, stay overnight.

IMG_2041IMG_2043IMG_2045

Whether you’re a group, a couple, or just traveling by yourself, there are certain accommodations that will definitely suit your budget and needs.

  1. Picnic Tables Day Trip / Overnight 500 / 750
  2. Camping Tent (1-3 persons) Day Trip / Overnight 500 / tent
  3. Beach Tent (1-3 persons) Day Trip / Overnight (includes beach mat, tent fly, tent, 2 mattresses, 2 pillows) 750 / 1,000 / set
  4. Gazebo (1-4 persons) Day Trip / Overnight 1,500 / 2,000
  5. Cottage (1-6 persons) Day Trip / Overnight 2,000 / 3,000
  6. Beach Room (1-2 persons) – Day Trip / Overnight 5,000

We stayed in a Beach Room at the far end of the beach. It is spacious enough for 2, very comfortable to sleep in, and has good air-condition.

IMG_2109

The interesting thing about these rooms is that each of them displays a unique form of art. According to Migs Camacho, founder of Playa La Caleta, he wants the resort to showcase the artistic side of the Filipinos.

These paper machetes are made from Laguna, a place that has been famous for creating such wonderful artifacts since the 1800s. These spectacles are actually part of the Playa La Caleta Art Program and Takatack Project Initiative, wherein they collaborate to highlight the fine craftsmanship of Filipino Art.

These pieces also glow in the dark, which adds extra delight when you’re ready to tuck in.

IMG_1897

Furthermore, all accommodations share a common toilet and shower rooms, which not surprisingly, also sport charming graphics.

Sometimes, they also hold movie nights in this cozy by-the-beach-theatre!

IMG_1885IMG_1886

The Restaurant

IMG_1916

IMG_1915

Scarborough Restaurant has just opened and is now serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

IMG_2030IMG_2110

They cook really fresh food, and we got to try their version of Sweet and Sour Fish and Binakol (Bataan’s chicken with coconut extract specialty). The menu is still in the works though, and I’m really intrigued by what kind of dishes they will serve soon.

Activities and Facilities

IMG_1901

IMG_2257

While most travelers love to go sunbathing and swimming in the water, there are also those who would want to play along with nature, and be a little more daring; because nothing completes a beach experience without its water sports!

IMG_1964-01.jpegIMG_1966-01.jpeg

Playa La Caleta is a big fan of natural water sports, which means that they only support activities and provide equipment that is not run by machines. This same goes for the entire aesthetics of the beach resort. They use nature-fallen materials such as broken twigs, tree trunks, old wood, and less cement.

IMG_2233

Their vision is to preserve the flora and fauna of the beach, so more people can enjoy it for a long time. They even held a turtle-hatching event some weeks ago! 🙂

They believe that nature is the main feature Playa La Caleta provides, and it makes them more distinctive than the other tourist water attractions.

Here are the water sports you can enjoy here:

  1. Stand Up Paddle 350 / hour
  2. Kayaking 350 / hour
  3. Slip N Slide Per Person / Per Group (10 persons max) (75-foot slide) 100/30mins / 300/1 hour
  4. Windsurf Board & Sail Sailboard with Sail 350 / hour

IMG_2159-01.jpegIMG_2138-01.jpeg

IMG_2165-01.jpeg

IMG_2195

I tried kayaking, and surprisingly I was more coordinated that day, compared to my previous experience in Palawan. I guess having a guide helped me very much. And oh boy, how I had the best time!

IMG_2199-01.jpeg

IMG_2197

IMG_2215-01.jpegIMG_2213-01.jpeg

IMG_2129

The Playa La Caleta staff was such darlings too, they took care of me really well. I was sporting a huge pregnant belly obviously, but the time I spent in here is definitely worth every baby-kick! My non-pregnant self wouldn’t have known the difference because I had the most amazing experience!

IMG_2209-01.jpeg

IMG_2227-01.jpeg

You wouldn’t want to miss this when you visit Bataan! And hey, it’s only about 2.5hrs away! 😀
